Smoking Ban Reason For Murder Rate Going Up

Listen, I know when someone took away my cigarettes I used to get a little crazy. But one police chief is stating that the smoking ban is rising the murder rate. Looks like the smokeless cigarettes need to be handed out at police stations to fight crime. Yeah, i know its a bad joke but it's an interesting story.

Top Cop: Smoking Ban May Be To Blame For Rising Murder Rate:

THE smoking ban and cheap booze may be behind the rising murder rate in the west of Scotland, a top cop warned yesterday.
Strathclyde Chief Constable Steve House said cut-price alcohol and being able to smoke indoors were creating drinking dens in residential areas.
Last financial year there were 34 murders but there have already been 55 this year - and there's st i l l a month to go.
House told Strathclyde Police Authority the statistics made "depressing" reading.
He said: "There is a cycle of drinking moving indoors and there are a number of factors behind this.
"Drink is so cheap, much more so than licensed premises.
"You can smoke as much as you want to in a house and you don't have to worry about the smoking ban."
House said there was more violence indoors and delays in calling an ambulance He said that if someone is injured on the street, then medics are usually called by a member of the public.
But during a house party, there is often a delay between the attack and the 999 call.
House said people try to sort it out themselves by rushing to get a towel from the bathroom.
He added: "There is a delay and that golden five or 10 minutes can make a difference."
